"I was in Gettysburg and had a sudden craving for blue crab. Didn't want to cross over into to Maryland so I found this place and the reviews looked good. It was only 20 minutes from the battlefield so I said, why not? I'm so glad I stopped by because the crab was some of the best I've had anywhere. They only had small but these small crabs were FAT and SO SWEET. They apparently don't use Old Bay seasoning and use something called Jay O which to be honest tastes a lot like Old Bay, but the combination of the melted butter dipping sauce with the vinegar really brought the crab flavor out. Truly some of the sweetest and creamiest crab I've ever had the pleasure of eating. Took some crab cakes back to the hotel for the next day and they were awesome eaten cold, so I can only imagine that they would be even better warm. Key Lime pie for dessert was also top notch. When I rhetorically asked where the crabs were from they were honest about them being from Louisiana (those in the know understand that this time of year all the blue crab comes from Louisiana), which I greatly appreciated. The place is BYOB and the ambiance outside was cozy with the lighting and space heater. They also have indoor seating. This place is a gem and definitely worth the trip for the crabs alone. Eating such delicious crab got me in such a good mood that I even gave a crab to a little boy who was drooling while watching me eat and practically begged me for one."

"First time here as I'm not a seafood guy. I was so wrong for not coming sooner. The broasted chicken is great! We had a small get-together on the back porch. Plenty of picnic tables. Three tables was good for us. Our waiter was great. Remembering everyone's drinks and all. We got boxes of chicken, hushpuppies, crab balks, and fries. I didn't eat any crab balks but I was told they were great."

"First time visiting Big Mikes Crab House and Grill with my wife and kids and I have to say even before the rest of the review I was already kind of partial to their cool name. When we first arrived inside the restaurant we were asked by the waitress if we would like to sit inside or out and we chose to sit outside since it was a nice day. Once at our table our waitress took our drink order and it was quick to come. Also I must mention that our drinks were cold and full of ice which you wouldn't think would be a big deal but when you are used to going to restaurants where they treat ice like it is some kind of precious commodity its nice for a change. It was also nice that there were other choices on the menu especially since my son is not fond of most kind of seafoods. We ordered the loaded hush puppies for our appetizer and they were covered in crab meat and awesome. The crab cakes, scallops and steamed shrimp that my wife, daughter and I had were great and cooked just right. My son and I had the "broasted" chicken as well which was crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside and tasted superb. The waitress was great, she was polite and quick. I only wish I could remember her name because whenever I have good service I like to include the wait staff's name in the review to give credit where it is due. Last but not least I visited the inside of the restaurant before leaving just to give some props to the guys cooking the food also which was well received by them both. Thanks Big Mike's it's hard to find good seafood when your not near the shore but you satisfied the craving. We will be back."

"Food is great. They only do Maryland blue crabs while in season otherwise they are from overseas. It's hit or miss with most of the other food"

"I really enjoyed this place. All the food we had was great, even the kid's meal grilled cheese was amazing. We loved the loaded hush puppies, and our dozen large crabs were very tasty and easy to crack/peel. The only minus I gave was that we didn't realize it was BYOB - so I took off one star for that and the ambience (was a bit hot inside, but I think you almost have to expect that for a crab shack of any type). Anyhow, food and service was phenomenal (we are from Baltimore and Big Mike's rivals many crab places there) and we will definitely go back again. But this time, we'll be bringing our own beer..."

"To start: I'm a huge seafood brat. Straight up. I dislike most of the seafood I've had in my state (MD), but this place is a gem! Came here with a friend for guy time and got the bucket...solid seafood. Sweet potato fries were a little on the greasy side though. Waitress was attentive, pleasant, and knowledgeable! Definitely recommend"

"My husband and I ate at Big Mike's Crabhouse, Tuesday 29 May and were very pleased with our meal. I had 6 Oysters on the half shell, and the Softshell sandwich on a Brioche roll, my husband had the Salmon cake sandwich with coleslaw, both our meals were delicious, service was attentive, the atmosphere is that of unpretentious seafood house."
